The College of Radiology Teachers of France (CERF) and Medexprim are proud to announce their three-year partnership to develop a tailor-made platform that will enable the CERF to structure the clinical research activity of the French radiology sector. It follows a first successful collaboration between the two structures, in the framework of the European H2020 CHAIMELEON program.

The CERF is an association made up of all the University Professors (PU) and Master of Conferences of the Universities (MCU) of France in radiology. Its two main missions are teaching and research in radiology and medical imaging.

Medexprim is the European leader in the reliable extraction of imaging and clinical data. As a trusted third party between the pharmaceutical industry and hospitals, Medexprim facilitates innovative collaborative research projects, leverages hospitals’ clinical data and develops new methods for designing and executing clinical trials to reduce time, costs and risks for pharmaceutical companies.

This platform, developed by Medexprim, will be owned by the CERF. Interoperable, it will allow to organize the collection, de-identification, enrichment, and annotation of multi-site data to integrate them into clinical research projects in compliance with the GDPR. Thanks to integrated data management tools, it will enable healthcare institutions to leverage their imaging data autonomously. With this new service, the CERF intends to contribute to structuring clinical research in radiology, and eventually to better valorize the entire field.

Professor Jean-Paul Beregi, President of the CERF, says: « This partnership is in line with the CERF’s ambition to become a major player in radiology and imaging research and its desire to provide its members with innovative and appropriate tools to carry out their projects, while respecting legal and ethical rules. It is also a demonstration of the CERF’s intention to work in synergy with industrials to guarantee the quality and relevance of technological developments. The CERF has enjoyed working with the founding members of Medexprim since its creation; the regular, constructive and fruitful actions have naturally led the CERF to propose a partnership with this company to develop translational research in radiology and medical imaging ».

Romain Cazavan, President of Medexprim: “We are proud to develop our partnership with the CERF, a learned society in radiology. As a trusted third party between the different actors in clinical research, we attach the greatest importance to compliance with regulations and the protection of patient data: this platform will be designed so that hospitals never lose control of their data, and will allow them to implement a personalized data management plan. The CERF brings a scientific, clinical and medical dimension to this partnership, which collectively allows us to position ourselves on ambitious and structuring projects at the service of the patient.”

About the CERF
The CERF brings together all the university hospital teachers, with 206 active university hospital members, 25 associate members and 34 corresponding members. It coordinates teaching and research activities in Radiology and Medical Imaging.

The university radiologists at the CERF participate directly in the training of physicians of all specialties; they contribute to the initial training of medical students, to the initial training of students of the DES in Radiology and Medical Imaging (“teaching/DES” tab; more than 1250 students per year), as well as to the university coordination of the training of electroradiology manipulators; they are also involved in the animation of continuing medical education in Radiology in synergy with the learned society (Société Française de Radiologie).

The CERF also supports research actions with a particular support to radiology interns (CERF-SFR research grants), as well as the structuring and harmonization of research in and through Imaging.  It supports multicenter and collaborative actions.
